Research

As a demographer, sociologist, and social epidemiologist, I pursue several research directions.

My research addresses fundamental questions about why health outcomes vary across social groups — particularly how education, gender, and other structural factors shape adult health and well-being. I am interested in puzzles that reveal both deep substantive implications and methodological complexity, such as whether the apparent health benefits of obesity in older adults reflect real biological processes or are artifacts of data and measurement.
